The Importance of Using a Serum and Why You Need it Too

It’s never too early to start incorporating a serum into your skincare routine. We all know that things like a well-balanced diet, sleep, exercise and avoiding alcohol and smoking help keep us looking healthier and younger. So why should you wait until you’re unfit or way into your 40s to start reversing the damage and practicing healthier lifestyle choices then? The same goes with skincare. The sooner you start taking a serious and more mindful care of your skin, the more likely you are to maintain your youth and healthy-looking skin for years to come.

Serums are concentrated liquid ingredients that target specific skin conditions and are formulated with smaller molecules to penetrate deeper into the skin and deliver active ingredients. The smaller molecule structure makes them very effective at treating various skin concerns and delivering a very high concentration of active ingredients.

Knowing that, I’m always on a hunt for a good serum to customize my skincare and address my specific skin needs. Since spring is here (even though it’s still snowing outside!), it’s time to glow. That’s why I decided to incorporate an illuminating serum into my routine. I chose Dior’s Glow Booster Age-Delay Illuminating Serum from their new Capture Youth Collection that’s available on Bloomingdale’s website. In fact, if you are looking for new beauty and makeup products, Bloomingdale’s is always a good place to explore them as they offer an amazing variety of high-end products (and free shipping 😉 ).

Dior actually launched 5 different serums as part of the Capture Youth Collection which are all intended to target and treat a specific skin concern:  lift, mattify, illuminate, soothe and plump.

What I really like about the Glow Booster Age-Delay Illuminating Serum in particular is that it contains a high concentration of Vitamin C and Alpha Hydroxy Acid which are proven to brighten the skin, even out the skin texture (think fighting discoloration), stimulate collagen production and protect against environmental pollutants and stressors, among other things. Plus, since our skin doesn’t produce vitamin C on its own, you need a topically applied method of delivery for optimal skin health and that healthy glow.

I use a few drops daily in the morning after cleansing and before moisturizing. It feels really lightweight, smells amazing and it instantly helps to energize the skin, adding that natural glow. I can honestly say that my skin is more luminous, evened out and has more glow to it after 2 weeks of consistent use. You can pair it with Dior’s Capture Youth Age-Delay Advanced Creme for even more powerful anti-aging results. Also, never forget your sunscreen! And yes, serums come with a higher price tag but it’s all for a pretty good reason. Remember: you pay for that high concentration and potency!

Glowing skin means healthy and young looking skin. End of story! Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Xoxo,
